My girlfriend had some serious, life-threatening stuff happen to her a couple of months ago. So I’ve been pretty AWOL these last few weeks taking care of her.  But now I’m slowly getting back into the swing of things. I have a metric tonne of stuff to catch up on.  More new work coming soon…

This is just a li’l fun something i did.  Always playing around in the apocalypse!

I love ghost stories and myths from all over the world.  In fact West Indian ghost stories indirectly made me want to do art for a living! Russian and Japanese myths are also a couple of my favourites!

This piece is science fantasy with twist of yokai flavour.   One of these days I’ll sit down and do more of this type stuff!

After that little silhouette illo I knew I had to do some fan art to get it out of my system…

Magik was one of my all-time favourite X-characters!  I loved her weird (even by Marvel standards) abduction/Limbo story arc. The best thing about her character was that inner struggle not to go all Alia Atreides on everybody.  And she was the genesis of my favourite stories/crossover EVER.  Yep, I’m talking about the Inferno arc.

Anyway, everybody loves to draw her as Darkchylde.  I mean, how can you resist that loincloth?!  But I liked her best as Illyana.  And I especially like her relationship with her big bro.  So I skipped the horns and cloven hoofs and decided to give her a nice swee smile. 

It gets so tempting to render everything.  In my attempt to not over-render everything, maybe sometimes I under-render?  I’ll just use the excuse that I want to keep it “design-y”.  haha.  ;P

This was a fun little distraction.  I was bouncing around a silhouette idea in my head for a few days.  So when I needed to take a break from a more time-consuming illo, I decided to flesh this out a bit.  And now I’m inspired to a little “fan art” one of these days!
